Where the data comes from

Every statistic on our market pages — listing counts, median asking prices, price ranges, certification coverage, pickup cities — is computed directly from active listings on The Animal Traders at the time the page was last built. Nothing is estimated from third-party sources and nothing is hand-typed.

Health certification labels come from a controlled vocabulary. Sellers select certifications from a reviewed list for each species (for example, veterinary health certificates or disease-testing statuses), so our aggregate counts are exact label matches, not free-text guesses. When a page reports documentation coverage, it counts seller-uploaded documents by type; the documents themselves are shared by sellers with buyers, not published on market pages.

How narrative content is produced

Some sections of our market pages — introductions, market analysis, and FAQs — are drafted with the assistance of AI language models. Those drafts are generated strictly from the same data snapshot the page displays, and automated checks reject any draft that introduces claims not present in that data: no invented prices, no unnamed sources, and no medical or veterinary advice.

Drafts are held for human review and only publish after approval. When the underlying market data changes materially, the affected content is flagged and regenerated rather than left stale.

Freshness

Market pages are rebuilt nightly from live listing data, so every listing grid, count, and statistic reflects the marketplace as of the most recent build. Tapping through to any listing or to the browse experience always shows current, real-time availability.

Corrections

If you believe something on a market page is wrong, use the in-app option to report a problem, or contact us through the Help & Support section. We correct verified errors in data handling for all affected pages, not just the one reported.
